Online UK Bookstores to Cease Shipping to US in Response to Trump’s Latest Tariffs

Photo of president Trump holding up the infamous reciprocal tariff display.

Trump continues to wreak havoc on the American economy with the enforcement today of blanket tariffs across all countries, including islands inhabited not by people, but penguins (no, that is not a joke). In response to this, UK-based booksellers Waterstones and Blackwell’s have announced they are currently halting all sales and shipments to the United States as they review their options to comply with the unfortunate situation.

For many book collectors, these stores served as the easiest way to receive the UK editions of their favorite books which often have vastly different covers from their American counterparts.

It’s been estimated that the tariffs will add an additional $2100 to Americans yearly expenses making it harder for many to afford anything but necessities, never mind books. We can only hope the tariffs don’t last.
